Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), known as one of the largest upstream operators of Oman, is planning their large industrial and logistics parks development in two fields. This way they’ll be able to maximise their value. The last decade Oman has been drastically accelerating development of industrial and logistics hubs in port cities such as Sohar and Duqm.
Abdul Amir al Ajmi told The National in Abu Dhabi a few promising words. “We found lots of appetite from local PDO contractors for these. Each park will be five million square metres – so a total of 10 million square metres, extendable hopefully in the future and now we’re looking for strategic partners as anchor tenants to bring other supply chains. Hopefully, sometime next year in quarter two, we’ll award this project.”
Since the expansion there has been a close relationship between the government and PDO. They have been working together to bring all sorts of different tenants into Duqm. Once these projects are finished, the acceleration of tenants to Duqm will speed up even more, it’ll also be a great way for international contractors and suppliers to save a lot of time and effort.
The Port of Duqm is located on the southeastern seabed of Oman and is planned to become a hub for multimodal logistics services. It is managed by Port Duqm Company SAOG, a joint venture between the Omani government and Belgium’s Port of Antwerp.
